Backpack
How much does your life weigh?
Imagine for a second that you’re carrying a backpack. I want you to pack it with all the stuff that you have in your life… you start with the little things. The shelves, the drawers, the knickknacks, then you start adding larger stuff. Clothes, tabletop appliances, lamps, your TV… the backpack should be getting pretty heavy now. You go bigger. Your couch, your car, your home… I want you to stuff it all into that backpack.
Now I want you to fill it with people. Start with casual acquaintances, friends of friends, folks around the office… and then you move into the people you trust with your most intimate secrets. Your brothers, your sisters, your children, your parents and finally your husband, your wife, your boyfriend, your girlfriend. You get them into that backpack, feel the weight of that bag. Cập nhật tình hình là tớ đang ở Offenbach, Germany
Vẫn ở nhà nghỉ cũ, không có internet (đúng ra là internet siêu đắt). Một ngày bắt đầu từ 6h sáng, ăn uống thể dục gì đó. 8h ra đón bus. Làm chán chê ở Honda đến 5h30 thì ra đón bus đi về. Tối sẽ lụi cụi nấu ăn, vì ở xung quanh không có khái niệm food court or canteen. Chán nhất là nấu xong phải rửa bát…
TV thì có vài kênh CNN, BBC nói tiếng Anh. Sang đây tớ nghe nhạc “trẻ” nhiều, chẳng hạn như Lady Gaga, nhờ kênh MTV.
Mùa xuân ở châu Âu cũng hay. Lá, chồi còn mới (sau mùa đông trơ trụi). Tươi hẳn (nhất là khi có sunlight). Chưa chụp ảnh gì mấy vì chưa có thời gian, mà cũng không có mood…
Viết vài dòng tranh thủ vừa revise xong cái paper (draft) và có internet. Ai mà “theo dõi” hoạt động online của mình thì sẽ thấy giảm ghê lắm đây. Các bạn thông cảm, vùng hẻo lánh, thiếu thốn lắm…

– Worked late yesterday. Found out a bunch of logical bugs in my code. Happily left the lab with some experiment running. Up!
– Morning starts with the rain and David Gilmour (Pink Floyd’s member). Great music, good life! This is for those who haven’t heard about Pink Floyd. Up!
– Come early to lab to check the results. Pretty confident for some good news. Sadly, the result gets worse than the one with bugs… Down!

But to be a great photojournalist, you have to have more than just one or two great photographs in you. You’ve got to be able to make them all the time. But even more importantly, you need to know how to create a visual narrative. You need to know how to tell a story.
